What is Rope Access?
Rope Access is a method for getting to hard-to-reach places and carrying out the work safely. We follow a climbing standard called IRATA where you always use two ropes, a so-called “work rope” and a “back-up rope”. Together with the latest rescue techniques and modern equipment, with the two ropes and skilled craftsmen we can carry out all imaginable work at height.
A Brief history
Ropes have been used for thousands of years from building the pyramids to sailing ships across the sea. As the buildings grew taller and the off-shore oil and gas industry expanded the scaffolding got impractical and often too expensive. Therefore a new method was born – Rope Access. But it was not until the early 1980’s that Rope Access started to develop to what it is today. The industry is growing fast and today Rope Access is an own professional group within the construction and maintenance sector.
